Live in the moment to get more out of the best
I’ve just come from the best place in the world.
When you’re at the best place in the world you think it’s pretty good. But when you come back you really know. That’s when you really miss it. That’s when you hope beyond hope that you’re one of the few to get a ticket to next year’s Glastonbury.
This time, my eighth, was somehow the best of the lot. Maybe I got that extra bit lucky with my stage choices. Maybe it was the location where I camped. Maybe the people I met, the food I went for (including Delux Porridge, Japanese Dumplings, and a now staple Dirty Cow burger to name but a few). Maybe the miles I walked, the areas I visited, the more new things I came across, the experiences? Perhaps it may even have been the weather maybe? I just know that this time was head and shoulders above all the rest.
I suppose if I could put my finger on anything I’d say that this time I lived in the moment more. Yes, I had done a degree of planning, however, some choices remained. It seems that the decisions I took, based on what was happening around me, worked out.
So, plan, but leave a little but of scope for tweaking the plan for ‘living in the moment’ would be my thinking.
And in terms of how good I really was feeling... @bbcglasto kindly tweeted evidence of my contentedness with the whole thing, as passed to me by friends in Chicago. At the time the photo was taken I was standing beside a music producer from Philadelphia. What a small world we really do live in.
