ISO14001 - a win-win
This image is of a house and church, at the Le Fornet glacier in Val d’Isere. A room with a view, and every so many years Le Tour goes past your front door. If it’s all about the location, this certainly has its plus points, and also takes the potential for remote working to a whole new level.
As you might guess, I’m just back from skiing. A glorious week, with great sun and company, however every year we all notice and comment about how much more ‘mountain’ we can see. The Tignes glacier is now only one, narrow run from the top. I remember there being two wide reds and a black. The chair lifts have more and more rocks exposed as you approach the top, and from the L’Agille Percee chair this year there were even flowers growing – in February!
One of these years, and perhaps in our lifetime, skiing will be no more – all because of the emissions that us humans have been pumping into the atmosphere for decades.
COP26 in Glasgow was the latest global attempt to limit this increase in global warming, and in the UK the Government has resultant legislation now in place to encourage organisations to measure their emissions. However, where I believe COP26 missed a trick, is in directly linking this to cost. Savings in emissions naturally equals financial savings. It is all about energy after all, and for most organisations this means electricity bills.
ISO14001 helps organisations save on their energy costs if used correctly. Organisations like to save money and do what is right for the planet, making it a win-win for the organisation and the plant.
