ISO as an investment
Running trails of a Sunday has become a thing in my world. A small but growing band of us go off-road, think mountain bike trails, and with a glorious coffee and a cheeky fry to look forward to afterwards, who really could resist?
Well yesterday everyone but me was able to resist, and I ended up with myself for company. At least there were no disputes as to which way to go.
There was an unexpected decision to be made though. A fork in the road, where one way would take me potentially towards a rough, steep, slow, slippy and long path, and the other a short fast one.
Businesses are faced with decisions and choices like this every day, sometimes many times a day. Whilst they do their best to determine what may lie ahead, sometimes it is just gut instinct or personal preference on which decisions are made. That is where good preparation is needed. A solid platform that will allow the business to be ready for what lies ahead, to protect the business from any quality, health and safety or environmental issues that emerge.
To help build up a protective base, businesses can prepare by using the great ideas contained in ISO9001, ISO45001 or ISO14001 standards. In other words, to use them as investments that would help the business, rather than costs.
In my case when running trails, I invested in Innov8 Mudlaws. They allow me to deal with just about anything that crops up.
