TEDxStormont

Today was spent listening to a series of inspirational speakers, on topics as diverse as satellites helping with disaster recovery, LGBT issues, happiness, the combination of ACT with Economics and the importance of failure in everything we do.

Whilst there are too many to mention individually, a common theme amongst all talks was that sometimes through no fault of your own, or perhaps as a result of a decision or action taken, we will fail.  If there is no failure, there is no success.  So we should accept that, and commit to doing something about it. 

There are also the great opportunities that currently exist in Ireland, North & South, due to the potential for population growth, and the benefits that will be available to us all if even a small percentage of the growth that has been experienced by England were realized here.

Perhaps the most memorable talks came from Niamh Hyland & Sinead McSweeney, who both suggested that career and life goals can change, and perhaps should, as life progresses, perhaps evidenced by the fact that the job you are doing now may not even have been heard of when you were a teenager and supposed to choose your career path.  And of course, Niamh’s song Resurection to kick her presentation off – definitely worth a look. @TEDxStormont
