SMART targets in practice

| admin | Blog

I run to get fitter and faster, to enjoy myself, and make new friends and lasting friendships at the same time.  I realized some time ago that the best way to achieve these goals is to have targets and milestones along the way, that keep interest levels high and provide a means of measuring progress.

So long story short, after an invite from a running friend I’ve entered the O’Brien Challenge, a 26k trail run that takes place on 10 September.  With a 2-mile hill called the ‘Widow-maker’ from miles 8-10, it could be my last race!

I’ve run close to that distance before, although between now and then I’ll need to do a bit of training to get ready.  Mostly involving running, in fact all involving running, I’ve gone as far as to jot a few things down on paper to guide me through.  I am a man with a plan!

I was out earlier today, and have been out in recent days, following that very plan and recording every step…#Strava Today was in and around the area that I live.

I’ll up-date you on my target when the race is over.  Meanwhile I just have to get out there and force myself to enjoy the great outdoors!
